Thanksgiving in Europe

This past week was Thanksgiving, a memorable holiday for us Americans. However, in Europe, no one celebrates or knows about Thanksgiving, which was shocking for Justin and me. Our American friend Zach planned to celebrate and show our European friends what Thanksgiving is all about.

We spent around two hours at the grocery store figuring out what to buy and how much to buy since we were cooking for our eleven-person group. We decided to cook mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, green bean casserole, pumpkin pie, grilled vegetables, salad, sausages, gravy, and a whole turkey. However, as expected in France, we couldn’t find an entire turkey, so we decided to oven roast two whole chickens instead.

We went to our friend Lourdes’s house to begin cooking and hanging out with all of our friends. The whole day was hilarious and full of laughter. Zach and I were the only ones cooking, so it was stressful, but in the end, we cooked a delicious feast for everyone to enjoy. It made me extremely happy to see our friends enjoy the food and celebrate Thanksgiving for the first time. This is a celebration I will always cherish because it was a unique experience that I got to share with people I love and am very thankful for.
