On a Wednesday night after school, my friends Marcos, Zach, Justin, and I were hanging out at my place. We were all pondering what we wanted to do over the weekend. My friend Marcos brought up the idea of going to Milan because his brother is currently on Erasmus there and visiting Lake Como since it's a beautiful area nearby. Without thinking, we booked our 6-hour-long bus tickets for the following day and packed our backpacks for a weekend trip we had barely planned.
We arrived in Milan around 6:00 pm and met up with Marcos's brother for a quick city tour. The city at night was lively and beautiful. We went to this Spanish restaurant to start the night with some beers and tapas and met up with his brother's friends. It was funny because everyone we met in Italy was all from Spain, so in a sense, it didn't feel like we were in Italy. After the tapas, we went to the restaurant that this random guy on our bus recommended. The food was delicious at affordable prices. My friends got pasta, and I got lamb chops. After dinner, we caught the last train to Lake Como to check into our Airbnb.
When we woke up in Como, the weather was perfect. We explored and walked around the old town for a few hours. The town was beautiful and clean, with spectacular architecture everywhere. The energy of the place was uplifting and relaxing. We caught a bus to a nearby village to explore more of the lake. The town was breathtaking. After enjoying Lake Como for the whole day, we caught a train back to Milan to meet up with Marcos's brother and his friends to go out.
The best part of this trip was that we barely planned anything. We brainstormed for about 15 minutes and made up our minds to go and plan things out along the way. The trip was so much fun, with many mistakes made along the way, but that made it unique and perfect.
