An Insane Experience in Bucharest, Romania

My friends and I scanned cheap flights during class for a boy's weekend trip. Marcos randomly found a 50 euro roundtrip ticket to Bucharest, Romania. Romania is a country on my bucket list I've always wanted to travel to. The history and culture of Eastern Europe amaze me because it is so different from Western Europe. In a sense, it feels like going back in time. When we brought up the plan to our friends, it was an immediate yes because it was such a random idea. We all looked at ourselves and told each other jokingly, "who else is doing what we are doing? This is going to be an amazing story to tell." Again, we booked our tickets and Airbnb and packed our day packs for three days, another trip we had barely planned.

When we landed, we were all so excited to explore the city. We arrived at night, and it was freezing. We checked into our Airbnb and went to a fantastic Romanian restaurant in the old town. The food was outstanding and reasonably cheap. We enjoyed our dinner and went out to experience the nightlife.

The next day, we walked through most of the city to do some sightseeing. The main place we wanted to visit was the parliament. The building was massive, and the buildings around it had the unique communist architectural design from their history of Soviet occupation. It was fascinating to see the architecture because you could genuinely feel the history of the Soviet Union, something you only see and hear about in textbooks.

Later throughout the night, we met a bunch of random people and went out with them. Romanian people are incredibly welcoming and warm-hearted. Everyone we ran into was pleasant and helpful. Overall, Romania was one of the most enjoyable countries we've visited. Everything is cheap, the people are friendly, and the city's energy is ecstatic. So much happened within three days; I will never forget these memories.
